Winter Warmers!

Winter Warmers!

Crafting Your Own Winter Warmers

There’s something quite beautiful about wrapping yourself up in something you have crafted, with your own two hands.

It's getting very chilly here in Australia, and as I write this, we are in the middle of a wet and wild, winter storm bomb!  All the more reason to get cosy!

I always find comfort in reaching for my handmade winter warmers, such as a cosy beanie, a snug scarf, or a soft pair of wrist warmers. Each one tells a story, stitched with love and intention, with a sense of accomplishment as we admire and gift our work.

Crocheting for the winter season is one of my favourite things to plan. There’s a calmness to it, an anticipation of the warmth of surrounding yourself in a hand crafted blanket or jumper. A quiet joy in choosing the yarn, working through a beautiful pattern, and seeing a purposeful project piece come together, stitch by stitch, row by row.

For quick makes, I always find that beanies and scarves are perfect projects to start with being quick to make, deeply satisfying, and super practical.

Wrist warmers, too, are a delight. They make a lovely beginner friendly project and they are just the thing for keeping hands cosy, while still being able to hold a cup of tea or type on your keyboard.  Which I do most often haha… I have several pairs and they are always in rotation once the weather turns, though I seem to lend and gift them and just make more… which is lovely!

Which leads me nicely on to the thought, of how handmade winter accessories make thoughtful gifts. There’s nothing quite like giving someone something warm and soft that you have crafted yourself. It feels like wrapping them in a hug.

If you’re new to crochet or looking to add a few seasonal pieces to your wardrobe, I’ve got some simple, beginner friendly patterns in my online store.  All designed with warmth, comfort and the beauty of the creative process in mind.

So pop the kettle on, gather your yarn, and let’s get stitching.
